John Kirkner received his instrument repair training at Southeast Technical College in Red Wing, Minnesota. A native of Chester County, he returned to the area in 2009 to work as a repair technician in New Jersey before joining the staff at Taylor's in 2010. In the past he has served as a resident repair technician for the International Music Camp in North Dakota and has been associated with the non-profit Play on, Philly! as a repair technician since that group's inception. Prior to beginning his career in instrument repair, John earned a bachelor's degree in music education from West Chester University and spent a year teaching high school band and general music in Delaware County. He is an active oboist, performing with several local groups including the Pennsylvania Symphonic Winds and Quintessence Wind Quintet. |
